Teva Tamoxifen (Tamoxifen Citrate) 20 mg 30 tabs
Description
Information about the drug
Many anabolic steroids undergo a process of aromatization with the formation of the female sex hormone – estrogen. When a sufficiently large number of female hormones accumulate in the athlete’s body, he begins to notice side effects such as the deposition of adipose tissue by the female type, swelling due to fluid retention, and gynecomastia. To prevent these side effects athletes use antiestrogens. The most popular of these is Tamoxifen because it is inexpensive, readily available, and highly effective.
Tamoxifen was synthesized in 1971, and its active use as an estrogen receptor blocker began. Teva Tamoxifen belongs to the group of selective estrogen receptor modulators drugs.
This means that it blocks the action of estrogen in the tissues of the body by binding to estrogen receptors. Teva Tamoxifen does not affect the metabolism of estrogen hormones, therefore, while taking this medication estrogens continue to be destroyed by liver enzymes, and do not accumulate in the body. Antiestrogens also affect the hypothalamus and stimulate increased GnRH production. As a result, the production of luteinizing hormone, prolactin, and follicle-stimulating hormone by the pituitary gland will be increased. This can increase testosterone production by the testes. Tamoxifen lowers cholesterol, which is important when using steroids.
It was also found that Tamoxifen when used for 10 days at a dosage of 20 mg per day increased serum testosterone levels by 142% of the initial level.
Tamoxifen is a derivative of triphenylethylene. Teva Tamoxifen is well absorbed in the stomach; the first peak of its concentration in the blood plasma is recorded 1-6 hours after administration, and the second – after 24-44 hours. The drug circulates in the blood for a rather long time – up to a maximum of 170 hours.
The elimination of tamoxifen is protracted and biphasic. The initial half-life of the drug is 24–53 hours, and the final, depending on the dose, – is from 3 to 18 days. Withdrawal of the drug occurs mainly through the gastrointestinal tract, and about 85-90% of the metabolized drug is excreted with feces and bile; a small part of it is excreted from the body by the kidneys.
Tamoxifen is excreted in the form of metabolites. The main biotransformation products are represented by glucuronide by other metabolites.
In medicine, Teva Tamoxifen is used for the treatment of estrogen-related breast cancer and testis tumors with increased hormones production in men.
Applying
The product is reliable and can be used in 2 different ways. Some athletes prefer to apply it during using steroids. It helps to control the level of estrogens in the period of its increase.
The dosage for athletes should be 10mg Teva Tamoxifen every day during the course.
Applying Tamoxifen is also justifiably during post-course therapy. This product isn’t only the blocker of the estrogenic receptors in a whole body, but helps the production of natural testosterone, stimulating the production of the luteinizing hormone. Its products in the anterior pituitary stimulate male sex glands to form androgens.
In such a way, Tamoxifen takes part in two processes during the post-course therapy – block the action of estrogens and help the organism to reestablish naturally. Post-course therapy dosage is 30-40mg during 2 weeks. Then it decreases to 15-20mg a day. For the last 2 weeks apply 10mg (a half of the tablet) every day. The course should last not less than 6 weeks.
Necessary to know, that applying big doses of androgenic steroids leads to a higher level of aromatization. In such cases recommended to add an aromatase inhibitor. This tandem gives you guaranteed effect and saves you from the estrogenic side effects.
Side effects
Due to the antiestrogenic effect of Tamoxifen, side effects such as hot flashes and genital itching are most often noted. Fluid retention, nausea, and vomiting are also possible. Less commonly dizziness, skin rash, alopecia, fatigue, and headache can appear. Impotence or loss of libido is possible in men.
In isolated cases, anorexia, taste disturbance, constipation, diarrhea, leg muscle cramps, depression, alopecia, or intense hair growth are observed.
In premenopausal women, cessation of menstruation is possible. Reversible cystic ovarian edema may develop. It is also possible to increase existing skin lesions or the appearance of new ones.
More serious side effects are possible, such as leukopenia and/or thrombocytopenia (platelet count usually drops to 80,000–90,000 / mm3). Very rarely neutropenia and pancytopenia can develop.
Teva Tamoxifen therapy is associated with increased levels of hepatic enzymes in the blood serum. In rare cases, more severe lesions, such as fatty liver, cholestasis and hepatitis can appear.
Hypersensitivity reactions are rare, in particular a skin rash, angioedema, polymorphic erythema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, bullous pemphigoid.
During therapy with tamoxifen, ophthalmic disorders are noted, in particular, decreased visual acuity, clouding of the cornea, the development of cataracts, and retinopathy. These effects are likely to depend on the dose and duration of therapy and may be partially reversible after tamoxifen treatment is discontinued.
Thrombosis is quite common. Pulmonary embolism appears very rarely.
Most of these side effects are reversible and can be reduced or eliminated by lowering the dose of the drug.
